Thomas Smugala is a fine art photographer whose work is rooted in the Missouri Ozarks: springs, bluffs, granite, caves, rivers—the overlooked beauty of Southern Missouri.

After a successful career in commercial photography and film that began in the early 1990s, he turned that eye for beauty and art toward capturing the beauty around him. His images favor places with beautiful water and granite rock, and private land most will never see. The same instincts that shaped his fine-art approach to music and celebrity photography and film (composition, timing, atmosphere, and a sense that something real is present) run through his prints.
